The weekend

This weekend, Renée took me to Camden, which is in North West London, and is famous for it's canal, and it's markets. It is a very interesting place! I saw some amazing hairstyles, and some very tall shoes. The best bit was going to visit Renée's favourite shop, Serendipity. It's in the Stables Market and is only open on Saturdays, but has a lovely collection of bits a pieces, a lot of it from India. Sasha, who owns the shop, went to India in September to buy some new things for her shop. I wish I could go there! I had my picture taken with Sasha's dog, Schmoo, who apparently thinks he's a human kid. He loves meeting all the people who visit the shop, and because so many people have photos taken with him, Sasha has started asking for a donation, which goes to Pudsey at the BBC Children in Need charity. We gave £1.

I've been trying to calculate how far I've travelled, and how far I'll have gone when I get to NZ... here's what I've worked out so far:
Horsell to Wood Green - 38 miles
Wood Green to Whitton (and back) - 40 miles
Wood Green to Camden (and back) - 13 miles
So, so far I've travelled about 90 miles... BUT after next Wednesday, I will be going...
Wood Green to Heathrow airport - 23 miles
Heathrow, London to Seoul, South Korea - 5519 miles
Seoul, South Korea to Auckland, New Zealand - 5962 miles
So, that will make another 11,504 miles! Renée and I are counting down the sleeps till we go...

Photos from the weekend

This is Freya who is 4 and started at Nelson School in September. She liked me so much she wanted to keep me, but I've got too much travelling to do! Freya's mum, Marion, said they might try to make their own owl. If they do, I might have a friend when I get back to England!
This is Pickles who can be a bit of a grumpy cat and likes to tell people off. I wasn't scared though! He looks a bit cross in the photo, but I think he's just sleepy.

This is me with Simon and Polly. She's a very lady-like cat. She loves to sit on Simon and Renée's laps when they come to visit.

This time in 2 weeks we'll be about to leave for the airport, and off to New Zealand! Hooray!

My Weekend

I had a very nice weekend, and I have some photos, but I haven't had a chance to upload them yet. I'll do that this afternoon.

I went out to Twickenham on Friday afternoon - it's a long journey, but mostly it's just going from one end of the Piccadilly line to the other, so it was ok. I'll be doing that again when Renée and I go to the airport in 2 1/2 weeks time - I'm so excited!

It was Andy's 50th birthday - he and Simon have been friends since they were Amy's age and at school together, so they've known each other 45 years - wow! It was fun meeting everyone - there was Andy, his wife Marion, and their 3 daughters (Hannah, 17; Ellie, 14 and Freya, 4), as well as the 3 cats (Barney, Pickles and Polly) and their rabbit, Mo. I had my photo taken with 2 of the cats so I'll show you in my next post. Renee and Si were going to go to Bruce Springsteen on the Saturday night, but it was Andy's party and Si decided that was more important to they sold the tickets. Si was sad, but Renee was secretly happy :o)

There's nothing very exciting happening this week I don't think, but next weekend I'm going to Camden market, which should be fun. Hope the other owls are doing well...

New friends

I met some technical theatre students tonight - they are at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts with Simon. This is a picture of James (Jim) and Michael (Mike), who seemed very pleased to meet me!

Technical theatre sounds like an interesting thing to study - they look at construction, design, lighting, sound and stage management. It would probably suit me - they do lots of late nights and owls are great at those!

I'm off to Twickenham this weekend, will have more to post on Monday.

New Zealand Owls

I've been doing some research on the owls I might meet on my trip to New Zealand. They have
one native owl - the Ruru or Morepork (I think it's called this because of the sound of its call.
You can see and hear more at this web address - http://www.wingspan.co.nz/morepork.html)
Here's what they look like - don't they have big, round eyes?!

Some more photos

This is what I'd look like in the wild...

This is the letter Amy helped me to write. As you can see, I have lovely handwriting (or should that be talon-writing?)

Here's my passport... I'm going to need it very soon.

Here's me!

Checking in...

Hi Amy and friends!

I just wanted to let you know that I have arrived safely at Renée's house in Wood Green. I was looking forward to arriving as I thought there might be some other owls in the wood, but it turns out Wood Green has no wood and isn't very green. Never mind though, I have some exciting news! Renée is going home to New Zealand for a holiday at the end of November, and I'm going too! She was going to post me, but I said I'd rather come on the plane, that way I get to stop over in Seoul in Korea as well.

It's a bit of a wait, but it will be worth it. Renée has promised to take me to the school where her mum works, and introduce me to the Year 2 class there. I'm going all over the North Island as well, so should be able to get some good photos. Then I might go and visit her Aunty in Western Australia, and her friend Samson, who lives on a houseboat in Amsterdam.

Here's a picture of me at the start of my journey...
I'll keep you updated on all my adventures. There might not be many this week, but next weekend I am going to a 50th birthday party, and a Bruce Springsteen concert at Wembly! (Don't tell Simon, but Renée and I aren't sure we'll like it).

Bye for now :o)
